"Best days of my life!"

A review of The Cedars by Simon Child written on Saturday 5th of February 2022

I was a pupil at Cedars School in Bower Mount Road , Maidstone aged 6to 9 until sadly it closed in I believe 1966.

The excellent staff were headed by Mr and Mrs Peters, and included friendly teachers such as Miss Western and Mrs Castle ( hope I have remembered correctly!).

Lessons were relaxed but focussed, and I particularly enjoyed the regular sports activities, drama, country dancing, and the choir singing. I was awarded the high jump cup and Victor Ludorum in my final year there😑.

I was proud of our striking purple school uniform and remember being taught to tip our school caps to parents and adults.

I remember the detailed red brick walled entrance to the grounds (which contained a beautiful Cedar tree) ,and I can still smell of my leather satchel.

Yes, they were the salad days. Thank you Cedars School for giving me “the best days of my life!”.
